A Preference for Oval

My mind has a roundness

which proclaims

squares should taper their corners

with spherical aims.

Nature has few instances

where will be found

an object that’s square

without being round.

There’s a fondness for roundness,

a preference for oval,

a liking for circles

that’s totally global.

Comets in orbit

chasing their tails

weigh in on the cosmic circular scales.

Greg Maddux’s curve ball over home plate

strikes out the batter

whose swing is to late.

Crop circles circulate

by mysterious stomp.

Dow Jones cycle is a capital romp.

Look across the universe—there’s a recycling bin

that star-stuff,

hotdogs,

socks,  Mount Everest, and odd poems go in.
