What beauty here
I think I know
Holds in these
eyes that upward go
In the smile
that stalwart wears
No modicum of
human errs.
Innocence is
plain to her.
God’s plan I
wish he would defer.
If not defer then
kindly keep
The smile that wends
The
eyes that leap.

This picture is
my friend’s daughter.
I wrote the
poem after I took the picture.
It just seemed
to fit.
The chocolate
on her cheeks seems just right.
Her mom had a notion
to wash it off.—to late.
The camera
couldn’t wait.
Mom’s are like
that.
So are cameras.
